Discover new ideas at Food & Hospitality Queensland

Media release: 1 July 2024

Retail professionals looking for fresh ideas should not miss Food & Hospitality Queensland. Running from 4-5 August 2024 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, this event showcases the latest in food, equipment, design, and fit-out inspiration.

With more than 150 exhibitors on the show floor, visitors will have the opportunity to explore and sample a wide range of products that could redefine the retail experience. From gourmet and artisanal products to the latest in eco-friendly packaging and smart retail technology, this trade show has something for everyone! There are also free workshops and demonstrations providing real-world solutions, ideas, and inspiration.

Event Director Tim Collett highlights the competitive advantage of exploring new products and technologies: “The retail sector needs the right mix of new cutting-edge products to keep their stores relevant. This show gives them an opportunity to go outside their normal circles, taste new products, try out the latest equipment, and meet the people behind the brands. It is also a chance to get ahead of the competition.”

Visitors will be treated to an array of special events, including the Queensland Chef of the Year, Brisbane Café School, Specialty Producers Pavilion, and the Restaurant Profit Workshop.

“After a challenging few years, the industry is back to full strength but facing new headwinds with rising costs and weakening consumer confidence. That means it is more important than ever to embrace new ideas and be informed about the latest developments.”

Those in the retail business will want to check out the ever-popular Specialty Producers Pavilion featuring boutique food, drink, and ingredient suppliers from all over Australia. We know how important it is to find Australian suppliers with quality products not found on your competitors’ menus or shelves.

In terms of food trends, Collett reports that plant-based products continue to infiltrate the mainstream market, providing opportunities for retailers to create new offerings for a growing number of consumers.

“The burger and mince alternatives remain popular, but the category is expanding to include alternatives to pork, lamb, and even seafood – I think show visitors will be blown away by the flavour profiles,” he says. Suppliers at the show will include Love Buds, Make by Kade, and the Aussie Based Plant Co.

Along the equipment aisles, visitors will be able to try out the latest gear, including grills, fryers, ovens, refrigeration, kitchen benches, and coffee machines, as well as up-to-the-minute point-of-sale systems and eco-friendly packaging.

Collett says AI is a driving force in products that automate operations, which can create efficiencies to increase profits and truly give operators an edge over their competitors.

“We are now seeing cooking equipment with artificial intelligence and web connectivity that allows operators to keep tight control, improve service flow, and maintain consistency. Buyers are finding that the upfront cost is offset by lower running costs, so the payback can be quite rapid.”

“Food impacts every person every day,” says Collett. “It is a dynamic and competitive industry where you need to meet changing consumer tastes and remain highly efficient to survive and thrive.”

Whether you plan to drop by for a few hours or immerse yourself over the two days, Food & Hospitality Queensland promises a wealth of knowledge, products, and networking opportunities. It’s not just about attending an event; it’s about gearing up for the future, armed with the best the industry has to offer.

Visitor registration is now open. According to Collett, “In just a few hours, you can literally taste the new food trends, check out the new products, and catch up with all the suppliers. There is simply no better way to improve your business, boost your career, be inspired, and maybe have a bit of fun too!”
