Keary Shandler is passionate about transforming the way food systems function, especially within the hospitality sector where her own story began. Driven by a genuine desire to make a lasting difference, she played a pivotal role in introducing the Food Made Good Standard to the UAE. This global initiative empowers restaurants to not only thrive, but to do so in a viable way that prioritises positive environmental, societal and sourcing outcomes.
As a consultant, she draws on her rich experience in international tourism, management, and business education, working alongside organisations to craft practical, customised action plans for sustainability. Her expertise has contributed to national food loss and waste reduction and reducing single-use plastic policy development as well as working collaboratively with market leaders in the food and drink, hotel and food delivery space to form responsible practices, paving the way for a more resilient and environmentally conscious hospitality industry.
In addition to her contributions to global sustainability initiatives, Keary volunteers her expertise with the Women and Climate global network as a City Lead for Brisbane and serves as a Mentor with the FAO/International Agri-Food Network Accelerator Programme. She is also recognised for her published research exploring the role of digital storytelling in enhancing business education, highlighting how innovative narrative techniques can enrich learning experiences and foster a deeper understanding of sustainability practices within the hospitality sector.
